“Sounds of Complexity” is an audiovisual performance inspired by the cyclic nature and inherent complexity of cerebral activity. Is an attempt to make audible and visible dynamics and interactions which due to their richness, variety and complexity are unheard and invisible.
A series of EEG-recordered cerebral activities, representations of discharges of billions of neurons situated in the sixth layer of human cerebral cortex disposed vertically respect to the scalp, are translated in audible frequencies through techniques of pitch shifting and processed digitally in real-time.
Frequencies are mapped in a Cartesian space to form visual trajectories projected on four screens.
